Emergency Generator for the Nar Clinic 2025
The clinic at the Nar Monastery in the remote Nar Pho Valley continues to thrive. It has become the most trusted and reliable health facility in the region, deeply valued by the local community. The Health Assistant who leads the clinic is both loved and respected, earning the trust of the people through his unwavering dedication and skill.

Despite facing incredibly challenging conditions — including freezing temperatures, very basic living and working facilities, and limited medical supplies — he continues to work miracles. Over the past year, he has treated severe injuries from yak accidents, falls, and altitude sickness, often saving lives in critical situations. On a daily basis, he manages more routine health issues such as chest infections, osteoarthritis pain, and eye infections caused by dust carried by the strong Himalayan winds. His consistent presence and care have had a significant impact on the community, substantially reducing both illness and preventable deaths.
This year, to further strengthen the clinic’s capabilities, MEDyARTE funded the purchase of an emergency generator for the monastery. While the monastery typically uses hydroelectric power from a nearby mountain stream, this source often freezes during the harsh winter months. In the past, this left critical equipment — such as the oxygen concentrator — unusable when it was most needed. The new generator ensures that essential medical care can continue even in emergencies.
Fundraising Concert January 2025
We’re also thrilled to share the success of our fundraising concert held earlier this year in Surrey, UK. The event was a very well attended and the funds raised will help support an upcoming dental camp for the Nar region. Dental care remains virtually non-existent in this remote area. Most residents have never seen a dentist, despite many suffering from serious dental problems. The nearest dental clinic is often a three-day journey away, and the cost of treatment is well beyond the reach of most families.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the incredible musicians who performed so beautifully, and to Joanna, who generously donated a collection of original Nepalese items for sale. Thanks to your support the dental camp will happen !
