Fundraising Concert for Nepal Expedition 2026
Building Health in the Remote Himalayas
For over six years, the MedyArte Foundation has supported the Nar Monastery Clinic in Nepal’s remote Nar Pho Valley, bringing essential healthcare to isolated mountain communities living at high altitudes and facing extraordinary challenges.
Our full-time Health Assistant has become a trusted lifeline, treating everything from yak injuries and altitude sickness to chronic chest infections and eye problems caused by harsh conditions. Despite freezing winters and basic facilities, the clinic has drastically improved health outcomes and is valued by all who live in the valley.
The Problem: Undiagnosed Airways Disease
Emerging evidence, local experience, and growing concern point to a significant burden of undiagnosed airways disease in our region. Many families use open indoor fires for cooking and heating, which results in persistent smoke exposure. Women and children are especially at risk, with extremely high rates of cough, wheeze, and breathlessness. Indoor pollution is suspected to be a key driver, but diagnosis and treatment are virtually inaccessible. Professor John Hurst, an expert in airways disease at UCL is advising on this arm of the project.
Our Project: Cleaner Air, Healthier Lungs
This year MedyArte is launching a new initiative to tackle airways disease and promote healthy living environments. Our goals are:
- To identify and diagnose cases of chronic airways disease (COPD, asthma) in local villages using clinical tools and bedside tests.
- To provide free treatment and ongoing management for respiratory illnesses, ensuring continuity after our expedition leaves.
- To work alongside local families to educate about healthy cooking practices and introduce cleaner alternatives to indoor fires where possible.
- To collect data on air quality and respiratory health, informing future approaches and advocacy for the region.
Continuing the Fight Against H. pylori
Alongside the airways disease project, we are continuing our successful campaign targeting H. pylori infection, a major cause of chronic gastritis and abdominal pain here. In 2022, MedyArte ran pop-up clinics to diagnose and treat H. pylori, using rapid tests and local health assistant training. We found extremely high rates of infection, and our work made a real difference to hundreds of lives. Now, we aim to diagnose and treat even more patients, reducing the burden of preventable pain and complications.
Our Approach
- Pop-up clinics in the Nar and Phu valleys
- Free diagnosis and treatment for respiratory and gastric disease
- Health assistant training for sustainable impact
- Indoor air quality improvement advice and support

- Community engagement, education, feedback

Why Your Support Matters
Long, difficult journeys and harsh terrain make access to healthcare almost impossible for villagers here. Many have never seen a doctor or received modern medicines. Your support enables us to run clinics, train local staff, and invest in sustainable solutions that create lasting change for hundreds of families. Every donation helps us reach further and care for those most in need.
Where your money will go
Your donations will go directly towards acquiring diagnostic equipment and medications for the project. Please join us at our upcoming Christmas Concert to raise money for this cause or donate directly through our website.
